Finally, a well-written work from the contemporary mystery genre! The prose is crisp, the characters well-fleshed out, the dialogue believable, and the twists in the plot genuinely surprising. Highly recommended.

It was so nice to find a good book, the kind you can't put down but do not want too end. Lots of twists and surprises. I am actually going to hunt for other books by this author.

As a big fan of Teresa Driscoll, I've been waiting for this book to be released! I was not disappointed. A TRUE THRILLER! Great plot that keeps you guessing right till the end! I read this in one day and can't wait for her next book! I definite must read!

I've enjoyed other books by this author however this one was completely frustrating! The main characters of Emma and Sophie and their fledgling friendship seemed completely idiotic. How many times can you defend your psychotic friend? Everyone knows she's "off the rails" except you? This character had zero common sense! And the abuse of the little boy was terrible. Where were school authorities? Child services? Caring adults? Awful!

This is the second book I’ve read by this author and she’s now 2-for-2 keeping me turning the pages through the night. THE FRIEND is tense and suspenseful from the first few sentences to the unsettling final one. It is the best kind of thriller—one that doesn’t sacrifice characterization for thrills. In fact, the chilling effect is that much stronger for having come to know the characters so deeply.

I just finished this enthralling and interesting book and just loved it. Read it almost straight through...saved the last third for a nice quiet time to really savor it. I didn't realize she had also written ' I Watching You' which I also loved. Am waiting for her next one. Don't miss either of these ,,,, they are that good.

Edge of the seat twists and turns that kept me guessing. Excellent plot and great character development. Hoping that Mel & Matt are going to be in the next novel too.

This was such an emotional story because it involved innocent children.If a lesson can be learned is that be very careful when picking out a new best friend and how naive you can be about said person.I am looking forward to reading more stories from Teresa Driscoll.

I couldn’t make it past the first chapter. There was an UNBELIEVABLE number of typos and grammatical errors even in the first paragraph. It seemed to be written very hastily and some sentences made no sense. I could not take the author seriously with so many errors. Do not waste your money like I did!

'The Millionaire Mindset: Habits and Simple Ideas for Success You Can Start' is a concise and well-written guide for getting familiar with a mindset of fearlessness, success, and wealth-building. The book has often reminded me of the writings of Wallace D. Wattles and William Walker Atkinson; I just got a felt-sense that the author is familiar with New Thought literature, and has been inspired by it. But on the positive side I would like to note that he did not exhibit the habit—which I found disturbing—of Wallace D. Wattles to say things like ‘you only need this book, do not look further,’ which is an unnecessary and often unwelcome admonition. I personally was not inspired by Wattles’ books, rather intimidated by his very outspokenly decisive and ‘ultimate’ style. The present book doesn’t fall in this trap; it’s written with respect of the reader, and in a much more humble tone. It also quotes many other books.I found the book very orderly in its conception. Part One presents the core of what the author calls ‘Millionaire Thinking’ and mission-critical values such as time management, decisive focus, persistence, resilience, while Part Two ‘Millionaire Purpose’ deals with delayed gratification, and purpose. While I liked the entire book, I found Part Two especially captivating. What the author says here about ‘delayed gratification’ is proven by evidence from child psychology, in that children who are early aware of the need of delayed gratification score much higher in the success ladder later on in life. The author quotes several research studies that prove his point.The third part if a very handy and pragmatic listing of various wealth building strategies, from affiliate marketing over real estate to options trading. As I myself was a real estate investor for many years until I experienced a fatal misinvestment with pool villas in Thailand, 2011-2014, I know that what the author points out here is of high practical value. Most of his advice given here, I have taken half-heartedly, such as looking for comparable properties to see if the appraised value of the property is really its market value. Having bought real estate that was over market value, I was destroying my chase to resell profitably from the very start. I have since then read all the books by Donald Trump, Robert Kiyosaki and Dolf DeRoos, which is how I learnt the know-how—and judging from these sources, what the author writes in this sub-chapter really tells the truth and the rules of the game.This book has deserved praise. The author writes a fluent style, and his advice comes over as grounded, never high-pitched or taken out of the air.I will end this review with a short quote from the book that may give evidence for what I am saying here:“The four skills of success (commitment/courage, planning/cleanliness, obedience, and work/industry) transcend culture, economic condition, and personal belief system. When these skills are mastered, success is sure in whatever activity you choose. But, while peace of mind is a form of success, success does not necessarily equate with peace of mind. Integrity, or personal honesty, is the deciding factor. Humility, the candid assessment of personal strengths and weaknesses, fosters integrity, and integrity is fostered through delayed gratification.”

Inertia can be a powerful thing and it subconsciously creates "stalling tactics" e.g., procrastination, fear, staying in the comfort zone.I especially liked the story about the Olympic athlete's rise above the scary ordeal of getting burned/severely injured by a stove fire and believing he could walk again, and then some!Darnell's discussion on Internet marketing had a thing or two to tell me, I don't consider myself a "pro" but I see areas for improvement I could look at for myself in this department.The chapter regarding stocks/real estate did not concern me, but I am sure there is an audience that will benefit from reading this part.Disclamer: I received this book for free/discount in exchange for my verified and honest opinion.

I wasn't sure I'd like this, because I don't usually like the crime drama/psychological thriller type stuff (I need to escape real life, not read about things I see every day). I only read it because I liked this author's other books, and decided to give it a go. But I really did like it! It wasn't until towards the end that I was starting to pick up on where the main cops thoughts were leading. The entire book was very interesting, and she did such a good job with the medical terminology and there was a lot of attention to details. I loved the gory detail of the crime scenes, but to be fair, it's pretty much impossible to trigger me. Others might be triggered. And Bradleys panic attacks were realistic and well placed.I definitely would not call this romantic... like at all. But I knew going in that really wasn't going to be the focus. I enjoyed the awkward relationship these two characters had, but there was maybe 2 times that the author let us see a little romantic tension. And then at the end, I just couldn't feel the potential for these two. Don't get me wrong, I loved that Max was a bit of a douche, and his cold hardened nature made me laugh. The author having Max explain how he is able to get through what he does was just so realistic, because as someone that's worked in trauma for a long time, sometimes his thoughts and actions about things were like reading what my day/reaction is like. People don't understand the need to compartmentalize. Max is gonna have his work cut out because Bradley deserves someone that will care for him, and Max has a long way to go. But, I will definitely be reading the rest, because I can't wait to read more from these characters.

I really enjoyed this book. The suspense throughout the story kept me completely engaged. We do get enough background about the MCs to get to know them enough for this story, but I look forward to delving deeper into their lives in future installments.This thriller involves a sadistic serial killer that evades the efforts of homicide Detective Max Donahue. Unfortunately for Bradley, an accountant who thrives on routine and structure, he's having a bad morning, and happens to make eye contact with the killer on his way to work. This puts him in the murderer's line of sight.After the killer takes his revenge, Bradley is the only surviving witness to what becomes a series of murders. But something is barring Max's progress in the case. Bradley is taken to the only safe place available, or so he and Max believe.Once Max finally makes a breakthrough in the case, he comes up with a plan. Bradley is very upset about being forced to go along with this plan, but chooses to trust Max to keep his promise. However, things don't always go according to plan, and Bradley loses faith in Max.There is a very slow burn romance growing later in the story. There is no heat in this story, but I'm sure we're going to see things move forward in upcoming sequels. I cannot say how quickly the romance will progress, but the constant sniping between the two MCs could mean that it will take a while. Overall, I did enjoy the story. After All, I did read it during my afternoon off.Happy reading!* I received an ARC of this book. *

This is not your typical romance though there is definitely attraction and sexual tension between the main characters. I have always loved a good mystery and this was an unforgettable reading experience. Brittany Cournoyer did an excellent job describing the crime scenes to the point I felt like I was in the room with the detective and the victim. This was carefully researched and tastefully though graphically described. I definitely didn’t know the killer and that was kept until the big reveal. At the end we see the first tangible evidence that Max and Bradley may become a couple. This alone is enough for me to want the next book in the series. However, what appealed to me most was the romantic suspense that focused more on the mystery than the developing relationship. A word of caution, this book does go into graphic detail with the violence as I believe has been put in a trigger warning and I know has been mentioned by the author. If you aren’t of fan of blood and gore on the page this will be a difficult book for you to enjoy. Thank you Brittany Cournoyer for taking a chance on writing this book! I love this trope!

Every once in a while I need to feed the need with a good mystery/suspense/thriller, and this one hits the spot head-on. Max. Oh my goodness! I immediately had a hard time liking him, but man oh man, I love complicated characters like him, so very much! Bradley, I so very much wanted to wrap him up and protect him. He's so very sweet. The story line was nicely done, the gruesome details were perfect for me, and may not be for everyone. I absolutely had no idea who was behind the murders until the big reveal, which totally did it for me. I usually can figure things out and this time I didn't. This is an ongoing story, which is perfect because I want more Max and Bradley so very much! This is a slow burn romance between Max and Bradley, so there isn't much romance going in, as this author has stated. I cannot wait to read what happens next!

Gritty, dark, suspenseful who-done-it drama that will captivate your attention. Well written crime/psychological story that surprised me with the bad guy's. Lots of twist and turns with the plot that will keep you engaged. The characters were well done, i really felt that i knew Max and Bradley. They are so not perfect characters and i really liked that aspect.This is not a romance and does not offer a HEA for these guys. It does offer a possible future and a little tension but that will be developed more in the next book. There is not a cliff-hanger, the story-line is wrapped up but the dynamics are just starting to build between Max and Bradley.Warning - This book has a lot of graphic details of the crime and the level of violence is high.I was gifted this book from the author and i freely give my review.

I was really excited to order this book when I saw the rave reviews. Unfortunately, after reading it, I am extremely disappointed. I have zero quilting experience and have learned nothing more from this book than I have on Google. It's a very small book, more like a pamphlet, and in my opinion not worth the $5.99 price tag. It is printed in black and white which makes it difficult to see the pictures and visualize what the text is trying to point out. I also question whether the book was actually edited. For the most part, I understand what is being said, but there are spelling and grammatical errors. I'm very disappointed in the subject matter and quality of this book.

Quilting always caught my eye but I considered it to be a very difficult undertaking and as a result I never tried it. Now that I have become a new grandmother I thought it would be nice to make a baby quilt for my granddaughter and got this book. I loved it! It has step by step, easy to understand instructions on how to make beautiful quilts. There are also some color pictures to give and idea of what the quilts will look like.

This is a very short book which appears to be a high level compilation of information available on the internet. It is much lighter on details then any beginner book you would find a quilting store. If you prefer the self-publishing format video tutorials on YouTube are more helpful.For this book to be more helpful it should have more details, more photos, more diagrams, and more content.Ali Julia review

Quilting can be a great hobby. To create a quilt can be very interesting thing. Honestly, I am a beginner with quilting so I pay attention to this book to at least get some necessary ideas about it. The book has all the basic ideas about quilting. The pictures included are very helpful. Once you get to read this guide, for sure you will immediately make your first quilt successfully. The book is so informative with its step by step procedure.

This is not really a book but more of a booklet on SOME basics of quilting. There are much better options out there for true beginners that explain a lot more than this 40 page booklet/pamphlet. I think a basic internet search would yield more useful information personally.

This is so much fun to read. I love learning new things and honestly gathering my first materials for quilting. Doing this for our new home. I am really not wrong on picking Anna Audley's book. I love all the ideas and the pictures/illustrations helped me a lot. Thanks a bunch!

This was a Christmas present for my 18 year old daughter. I always get my kids a book to read as one of their Christmas gifts, but this year I decided to get my oldest something different. She can write in this each day and will hopefully have something to look back and reflect on years later.

I purchased this book to begin an account for my daughters of my life growing up. I love the premise of one question a day. Not too much pressure and just enough room to fill in the question's answer.

I was given a copy of this book to review. That said, I always try to be honest and open in my reviews.This is an amazing book.(Please see the enclosed pictures.)The book is designed for you to fill out one question per day for a whole year.The questions range from relatively factual (where did you grow up?) to highly thoughtful and philosophical (how do you want to be remembered some day?).This book could form the basis for an autobiography, self help in dealing with past traumas, an amazing find for your great, great grandchildren, or any of a thousand other uses.I started on the book a week ago, and I am excited to see what questions and answers this year brings.I highly recommend this journal.

I got this as a birthday gift for a good friend who has baby number 2 on the way. Many years ago I purchased a 'The Story of a Lifetime' hardcover book for my grandmother to fill out. I loved the idea. It's a gorgeous old fashioned looking book that was well worth it, especially now that my grandmother is no longer here. I don't know if you can still get it on Amazon, if you can, I actually recommend it over this book. This book on the other hand, is more modern looking with a soft hard cover. It's not a paper back. It's not a hard cover. It's something in-between. It's a nice enough keepsake to give as a gift for a friend (or yourself), but I think if you want to go "all out" for a very special family member a book like 'The Story of a Lifetime' is more suitable and more like heirloom quality.

This journal is exactly what I have been looking for. It has 365 questions about your life. It is intended for you to answer one per day, then at the end of the year you have a chronicle of your story. This is a great way for parents to pass on information about themselves to their adult children. I wish I had one of these filled out from my Mom to look back on (she is no longer with us).The questions range from "when is your birthday? Describe what you know about the day you were born." to deeper questions like "What more do you want out of life?" or "Do you think there is life after death? Explain." The journal gives one page to answer each question. This seems like an appropriate amount of space to me. It was a little difficult to write on day 1 because it is on the left side of the book and the book is new and stiff. This will get easier though with use.This journal is intended for adults. There are a decent number of questions about high school, college, relationships, and careers. I really love this journal and I would definitely recommend it. I plan on buying more for family members.

This book can definitely help the writer record both the facts of their life and their opinions and things they've learned over the years. Questions range from a basic request for birthdate and information known about that day to a request for the major themes in your life and musings about aging. You don't have to be old to use this book, but most of the questions can be most easily answered by someone who had finished school and had some life experiences afterward. Physically it is an attractive book with colorful endpapers, a thick flexible protective cover, and a ribbon. There are 365 questions, one to a page, with a lined area provided for your answer. I was able to peel off the information label on the back cover, which makes it look more like a regular journal, in my opinion. There was no sticky residue left underneath it, but the area under the label is faintly lighter in color. This journal would make a lovely keepsake.

This book is a super gift to someone else for them to complete or for you to complete and give as a gift to children or grandchildren or other loved one. I also think the questions are excellent discussion starters for couples or friends. This reminds me of The Book of Questions. Each page of this book has a question and then lines for writing out an answer. It is a helpful resource to provide much of your life story. Of course, some questions are more inspiring than others. This could simply be a gift for yourself to help you reflect on your life. It is a nice hardback book.

Robertson's account of his exploits as a crusading attorney are thrilling to read. Unfortunately I was introduced to this memoir as a core text in the NSW HSC. I have taught as part of the Conflicting Perspectives elective several times, which has ground the enjoyment out of it. Read it and enjoy but, if you can, avoid overanalysing.

I was familiar with Geoffrey Robertson from his entertaining and thoughtful "Hypotheticals" series on Australian TV, and this book did not disappoint. His revelations about the justice system not only in Great Britain, but in many other parts of the world which inherited its legal system, are well worth the read.

By sunset of the solstice in three days, the teens must rescue Hera, Queen of the gods, or Porphyrion, the giant king created to destroy Zeus and unseat the gods of Olympus, will rise. Their quest takes them across the United States, sometimes flying on a mechanical, 60-foot dragon, as they use their power and wits against Medea, King Midas, and the giant cannibal Enceladus. Riordan excels at clever plot devices and at creating an urgent sense of cliff-hanging danger. As a huge fan of Percy Jackson, I was so excited to continue the adventure with The Heroes of Olympus. After reading this book, the first in the series, I'm neither satisfied nor disappointed. It was nice to dive back in to the world of Camp Half-Blood but I just couldn't get too involved with the new characters like I did with Percy and his crew. I also purchased the second book to try and get more into it, that book will determine whether I continue the series or not.As for if I would recommend this book, I'd say it's worth a try. :-)

I love a good book. My favorites are usually modern day stories about normal people with a little bit of magic thrown in to make it interesting. I originally started reading the Percy Jackson series because my granddaughter liked the movie. So I bought her the series and we read at least a chapter or two every time we spend a few hours together. My girl does most of the reading and I sort of explain the parts or words she doesn't understand. We've almost finished all of the Percy Jackson series. And I must confess, since I read just a bit faster, I've moved onto the Lost Hero series. It started a bit slower than the other books. But as I read the story I found myself wondering how it was going to play out. Greek mythology is just as fascinating as Roman mythology. I like that they're being mixed together and how these series are overlapping. The message I see in both series is one of honesty, and friendship and trust. The concept of right and wrong should be installed into young people at an early age. Age appropriate explanations of actions and consequences. These books have helped my granddaughter, who is just about 8 years old, to learn to think about what will happen once she has said or done something. I'm thankful there are stories that have captured her interest and attention. She is also beginning to understand that the lessons these books are helping her to learn will help her throughout her life!! That is the best compliment I can give to any author and his/her stories.

Rick Riordan starts another great story! I am a great fan of Percy Jackson, and was excited to see a new series. The author introduces new characters but has not changed his style of getting you to know and care about them, until they become real people to the reader. Too many dismiss books nowadays as copies or derivatives of older well known works. In that light , everything can be considered a copy of something else. I always approach a book or series to see if it can grab my attention and invest me in the story or characters. Rick Riordan has not disappointed me yet.

I really like Rick Riordan's books, starting with Percy Jackson series. I like that he uses mythology and humour in his books. I have always loved mythology and this is a great series to get my sons reading. In fact, it was my oldest son and my sister who got me into Riordan's books.This is the second book of the Kane's Series/Egyptian Mythology. This is written in first person from each sibling's point of view (POV). Each chapter is a different POV. Some writers have a hard time writing different voices for their characters and when they try this the characters sound the same. However, Riordan does a good job of keeping Sadie and Carter's voice distinct.I bought this one to replace the one that disappeared. It has been awhile since I read the Kane Series.

If I can say nothing else about Rick Riordan (RR) I will say he is without a doubt an entertaining storyteller no matter what age you are. While his Percy Jackson series are still my favorites I enjoyed this book more than The Red Pyramid.The best thing about this book is that there are more kids. It just makes for a little more humor when you have kids interacting with other kids instead of adults. Now that Sadie and Carter are helping to train some new kids at Brooklyn house there is rooms for some new and interesting characters.-- “Felix believed that the answer to every problem involved penguins; but it wasn't fair to birds, and I was getting tired of teleporting them back home. Somewhere in Antarctica, a whole flock of Magellanic penguins were undergoing psychotherapy.”Carter and Sadie need to find a way to awaken Ra if they are going to beat Apophis (god of Chaos) but he has been missing for quite awhile and they will need to find some ancient artifacts to help them.RR adds his own spin on Egyptian mythology and ‘The Gods’ that is entertaining, informative and interesting. I always feel like I’m learning about the culture as well as being entertained by the story. There were all kinds of new gods and obstacles to deal with along the way and Sadie and Carter have to prove even to the gods that want Ra to return they are strong enough to complete the task.I love the sibling relationship between Cater and Sadie. They antagonize and provoke each other but they are also the firt to stand up and fight for their sibling if they are ever in danger. Sadie’s PoV chapters were my favorites but that is probably because she is so snarky and gets to have most of the funny lines.- “Our camels plodded along. Katrina tried to kiss, or possibly spit on Hindenburg, and Hindenburg farted in response. I found this a depressing commentary on boy-girl relationships.”Carter still feels responsible for Zia and has been trying to find her ever since he found out she was hidden away for her safety. But he might just be a little obsessed, so much so that he is seeing clues everywhere.- “Carter, not to be unkind," I said, "but the last few months you've been seeing messages about Zia everywhere. Two weeks ago, you thought she was sending you a distress call in your mashed potatoes." "It was a Z! Carved right in the potatoes!”There is always something happening with all the mini quests before the big one and I will say that Ra really wasn’t what I was expecting, which kinda made it all the better. Who said waking up a god would be easy never went looking for one with and evil Ice Cream vendor hot on their trail.Add in the hint of a blossoming romance between Sadie and Walt or Sadie and Anubus and this story has a little bit of everything. It is the cutest crush triangle I’ve read and I’m not sure which way I want it to go. All in all a fun and entertaining ride. Sure this is a MG book but it is just as fun for kids of all ages.If you haven’t read the Percy Jackson series I’d say read that first (so much better than the movies). But if you have might as well expand your RR mythology and add a little Egyptian to it.
