About the Author
Dr. Robert Abel, Jr., M.D integrates modern medicine, alternative remedies and natural options in order to connect eye care with general health. This is a great book for anyone who is concerned about maintaining good quality eyesight. The author describes the anatomy and physiology of the eye and discusses in depth the various common eye diseases. He gives both the conventional treatments and the natural medicine treatments. He also discusses ways these various diseases can be prevented. The book is written from a nutritional standpoint as the author is into both eye care and nutrition. This is a interesting and informative book. He is quite comprehensive and covers the subject well. I am so glad I found this book on Amazon, I grew up on only herbal supplements and feel very safe using them. As a baby my medicine for a cold was extract of holy bazil that we referred to as baby bush, nowadays hearing all the talk about green food supplement makes me smile because my great grand parents had an herb for every ailment, and cod liver oil was never far away. I have been using the supplements for one month now and I even forget that I had a problem with dry eyes. Dr. Abel thank you for this book and for your integrity, you now have a new patient.The information in this book is not only for eye problems, it has also helped my carpal tunnel pain.7/13/2013I followed Dr. Abel's recommendations in this book and received remarkable results with a few of the supplements he recommended. I have not changed the font on this computer and I am able to read articles and write emails without my reading glasses. At first I thought my vision was getting worse, before realizing my glasses were now too strong, my distant vision is also great. I had seen an Opthamogolist prior to reading this book and was given two prescriptions without any explanation. I went outside of his establishment to find out about what type of glasses I needed, when I was told a drugstore reading glasses would work just fine for me unless I wanted to spend unnecessarily.It is great to know that we still have some professionals with a conscience and integrity.Along with the supplements I also take Green Vibrance powder daily. I no longer have an issue with dry eyes.
I've used the first edition for years and am excited to receive this 3rd edition. Robert Abel MD is an excellent teacher and his holistic approach to eye health is a breath of fresh air in the realm of allopathic medicine. I cannot recommend this book more highly for anyone seeking to improve their vision and eye health in a meaningful, whole-body, whole-being way.
this is inspried. he is an evolved man and an avant garde ophthalmologist. we need more like him, a patient orientated doctor not just focused on pill pushing for symptoms and focusing on just his few square inches of the body. whole body, whole person, whole patient. GREAT. my new hero
I learned that I had elevated eye pressure as well as ocular nerve damage at the end of 2015. I wanted to know more about what I could do to care for my eyes as the ophthalmologist prescribed drops but didn't really communicate with me much beyond that. This book has been an excellent resource concerning eye care in general and the different types of disorders and options for care and treatment. I'd highly recommend to everyone. You only have 2 eyes a lifetime.
