Bought this as a gift for my sneaker head brother. He loved it and said he had never seen anything like this. He let me know the moment he got home he was already on his couch paging through it before proudly displaying it on his coffee table.The book comes shrink wrapped which kept it in great condition but didn't allow for writing a note on the inside. The book absolutely looks fantastic from the outside and I can see why my brother decided to leave it as a display piece. The Jordan 1 really pops with the gold letter background.The content with all the sneaker history is just as great. I'd recommend for any sneaker head out there.

About the Author

Eric Lane and Nina Shengold have been editing contemporary theater anthologies for more than twenty years. Eric Lane's award-winning plays have been published and performed in the United States, Canada, Europe, and China. Plays include Ride, Times of War, Heart of the City, Dancing on Checkers' Grave, and Filming O'Keeffe. Floating, a PlayPenn finalist, was workshopped at Raven Theatre. Eric's short plays are published in Best American Short Plays, Poems and Plays, and the Foreign Language Press (Beijing). He wrote and produced the short films First Breath and Cater-Waiter, which he also directed; both films screened in more than forty cities worldwide. For TV's Ryan's Hope he received a Writers Guild Award. Honors include the Berrilla Kerr Playwriting Award, the La MaMa Playwright Award, and fellowships at Yaddo, VCCA, and St. James Cavalier in Malta. Eric is an honors graduate of Brown University, and artistic director of Orange Thoughts, a not-for-profit theater and film company in New York City. Nina Shengold's plays include Finger Foods, War at Home, Homesteaders, and Romeo/Juliet, and have been produced around the world. Her one-act No Shoulder was filmed by director Suzi Yoonessi, with Melissa Leo and Samantha Sloyan. Nina won a Writers Guild Award for her teleplay Labor of Love, starring Marcia Gay Harden; other teleplays include Blind Spot, with Joanne Woodward and Laura Linney, and Unwed Father. I don't like these plays. They are for a mature audience.

This is a really solid collection of ten-minute plays. Ten-minute plays are a wonderful challenge for writers and are very popular with theaters all over the world. The editors of this collection, Eric Lane and Nina Shengold, have done a fine job assembling a diverse and eclectic group of comedies and dramas for this book, and also provide readers with lots of helpful background information on the history of the ten-minute genre.If you haven't read ten-minute plays (or seen them performed in theaters), I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. This collection has something for everyone â€“ an excellent variety â€“ and would be a good place to start. Particular standouts in the book, I believe, are the pieces by Christopher Durang, Warren Leight, Claire Reeve, Sean O'Connor, and Rich Orloff. Very highly recommended.

"Take Ten II: More Ten-Minute Plays," edited by Eric Lane and Nina Shengold, is a follow-up to the co-editors' earlier anthology of very short plays. In addition to the thirty-five plays, the book contains an introduction by the co-editors, some biographical notes on the contributing playwrights, and an index breaking the included plays down into six categories, from one-character play to six or more characters. Interestingly, the most represented category in the book is the two-character play, with fifteen selections.Lane and Shengold have not just assembled an anthology; they are on a mission to champion the ten-minute play as a distinctive and vital genre with its own rich history. In their introduction, they note that it's been "just over twenty-five years since the Actors Theatre of Louisville announced its first Ten-Minute Play Contest," and in their acknowledgements section they note further, "The number of theatres around the country producing annual ten-minute play festivals continues to grow." A simple Internet search revealed to me how accurate the co-editors are in their assessment of the strength of this genre.Lane and Shengold promise "a crash course in the depth and diversity of the American theatre" in this anthology, and they more than fulfill this bold claim. Some of the most striking selections are as follows: "Antigone's Red," by Chiori Miyagawa, looks at the internment of Japanese-Americans during World War II. "Classyass," by Caleen Sinnette Jennings, is a comedy set at a college radio station. "The Cure," by Romulus Linney, is a one-character monologue told by a mountain midwife.Also worthy of note: "Daniel on a Thursday," by Garth Wingfield, is a two-character encounter set in a gay bar. I really enjoyed Nina Shengold's "Emotional Baggage," a clever comedy in which actors play pieces of unclaimed baggage at an airport. "It's Not You," by Craig Pospisil," is an unsettling satire about friendship and choices set in a New York City subway car. Dael Orlandersmith's "My Red Hand, My Black Hand" is an exploration of biracial Black/American Indian identity that has dialogue written as poetry. Rich Orloff's "Playwriting 101: The Rooftop Lesson" is a deliciously absurdist piece about the art of writing a play. "The Sniper," by Anthony David and Elaine Romero, is a gripping drama about the relationship between an Israeli military sniper and a Moroccan journalist.I found this superb anthology hard to put down. Lane and Shengold note that the best examples of the ten-minute play genre function as "miniature worlds." In this collection they have assembled a truly diverse and rewarding group of these little worlds. This book is a perfect companion for the original "Take Ten"; I recommend both anthologies enthusiastically.

I liked this book a lot. I took a lot of quotes down. The hard part is how to apply it. It is one of those reads that you wish you could just assimilate all of the teachings, but at the same time you don't know where to even start.The ideas were compelling, but distant for me. Father Roar both inspires me and also makes me wonder if I even understand what he is saying. He is a mystic and I struggle with silence. My mind races, well more like jogs, and it is hard to make it take a seat. Contemplation asks you to take a seat while life is rushing around you.Anyway...about that book. It's basic premise is that you are a piece of God in a way. Yes, you are you, but you are also divine. Religion tends to ask its adherents to find God out there, but God is really in you...once you get rid of your "false self." As he says, "That God is both utterly beyond me and yet totally within me at the same time is the exquisite balance that most religion seldom achieves..."A good portion of the book takes shots, with good reason in my opinion, of the way religion is done today."The religious False Self can even justify racism, slavery, war, and total denial or deception and feel no guilt whatsoever, because â€œthey think they are doing a holy duty for Godâ€ (John 16:2). The ego has found its cover, so be quite careful about being religious. If your religion does not transform your consciousness to one of compassion, it is more a part of the problem than any solution."He is open to truth from wherever it comes from, which I find very appealing. I really like this analogy of finding the Way without being a "true believer.""I also know that being a Christian today does not demand that you walk this map or recognize this deep pattern to reality. It is too often just a club to join. Indeed, many non-Christians see it, honor it, and live it much better than those who claim to be true believers. You have not been to Russia just because you have a correct map of Russia, and you can fully experience Russia without ever owning the map."Anyway, read it if you are a seeker. Rohr will intrigue you if nothing else.

Finding their True Self is a human's biggest mission, yet it is hardly ever discussed in today's religion. It is the greatest gift I have witnessed each client find for them-self, and I highly encourage everyone to go on their own personal journey, with this book in hand. Happily, Father Rohr canâ€™t be silenced by the ecclesiastical police, the way Tielhard de Chardin was, so he can speak freely. His message is revolutionary, yet he is simply passing on what Jesus taught, before His teaching was tamed, re-packaged and turned into idolatry. Passing Christâ€™s message on is a difficult job for our ego will be outraged. It will fight tooth and nail to kill it. For that reason we need all the help we can get. Rohr is a profound and wise teacher, an invaluable guide to find your True Self. It is men like him who will save Christianity from irrelevance.

Father Rohr is a clear thinker and a clear writer. Even though I am an agnostic and pretty staunchlyuncomfortable with any religious institutions - and Fr. Rohr is definitely a Catholic, I find his ideasand the way he burrows into them inspiring. He is one of the few people I've read anywhere who Imight describe as 'wise.'My soul likes him.

Finally, a well-written work from the contemporary mystery genre! The prose is crisp, the characters well-fleshed out, the dialogue believable, and the twists in the plot genuinely surprising. Highly recommended.

It was so nice to find a good book, the kind you can't put down but do not want too end. Lots of twists and surprises. I am actually going to hunt for other books by this author.

As a big fan of Teresa Driscoll, I've been waiting for this book to be released! I was not disappointed. A TRUE THRILLER! Great plot that keeps you guessing right till the end! I read this in one day and can't wait for her next book! I definite must read!

I've enjoyed other books by this author however this one was completely frustrating! The main characters of Emma and Sophie and their fledgling friendship seemed completely idiotic. How many times can you defend your psychotic friend? Everyone knows she's "off the rails" except you? This character had zero common sense! And the abuse of the little boy was terrible. Where were school authorities? Child services? Caring adults? Awful!

This is the second book Iâ€™ve read by this author and sheâ€™s now 2-for-2 keeping me turning the pages through the night. THE FRIEND is tense and suspenseful from the first few sentences to the unsettling final one. It is the best kind of thrillerâ€”one that doesnâ€™t sacrifice characterization for thrills. In fact, the chilling effect is that much stronger for having come to know the characters so deeply.

I just finished this enthralling and interesting book and just loved it. Read it almost straight through...saved the last third for a nice quiet time to really savor it. I didn't realize she had also written ' I Watching You' which I also loved. Am waiting for her next one. Don't miss either of these ,,,, they are that good.

Edge of the seat twists and turns that kept me guessing. Excellent plot and great character development. Hoping that Mel & Matt are going to be in the next novel too.

This was such an emotional story because it involved innocent children.If a lesson can be learned is that be very careful when picking out a new best friend and how naive you can be about said person.I am looking forward to reading more stories from Teresa Driscoll.

I couldnâ€™t make it past the first chapter. There was an UNBELIEVABLE number of typos and grammatical errors even in the first paragraph. It seemed to be written very hastily and some sentences made no sense. I could not take the author seriously with so many errors. Do not waste your money like I did!

'The Millionaire Mindset: Habits and Simple Ideas for Success You Can Start' is a concise and well-written guide for getting familiar with a mindset of fearlessness, success, and wealth-building. The book has often reminded me of the writings of Wallace D. Wattles and William Walker Atkinson; I just got a felt-sense that the author is familiar with New Thought literature, and has been inspired by it. But on the positive side I would like to note that he did not exhibit the habitâ€”which I found disturbingâ€”of Wallace D. Wattles to say things like â€˜you only need this book, do not look further,â€™ which is an unnecessary and often unwelcome admonition. I personally was not inspired by Wattlesâ€™ books, rather intimidated by his very outspokenly decisive and â€˜ultimateâ€™ style. The present book doesnâ€™t fall in this trap; itâ€™s written with respect of the reader, and in a much more humble tone. It also quotes many other books.I found the book very orderly in its conception. Part One presents the core of what the author calls â€˜Millionaire Thinkingâ€™ and mission-critical values such as time management, decisive focus, persistence, resilience, while Part Two â€˜Millionaire Purposeâ€™ deals with delayed gratification, and purpose. While I liked the entire book, I found Part Two especially captivating. What the author says here about â€˜delayed gratificationâ€™ is proven by evidence from child psychology, in that children who are early aware of the need of delayed gratification score much higher in the success ladder later on in life. The author quotes several research studies that prove his point.The third part if a very handy and pragmatic listing of various wealth building strategies, from affiliate marketing over real estate to options trading. As I myself was a real estate investor for many years until I experienced a fatal misinvestment with pool villas in Thailand, 2011-2014, I know that what the author points out here is of high practical value. Most of his advice given here, I have taken half-heartedly, such as looking for comparable properties to see if the appraised value of the property is really its market value. Having bought real estate that was over market value, I was destroying my chase to resell profitably from the very start. I have since then read all the books by Donald Trump, Robert Kiyosaki and Dolf DeRoos, which is how I learnt the know-howâ€”and judging from these sources, what the author writes in this sub-chapter really tells the truth and the rules of the game.This book has deserved praise. The author writes a fluent style, and his advice comes over as grounded, never high-pitched or taken out of the air.I will end this review with a short quote from the book that may give evidence for what I am saying here:â€œThe four skills of success (commitment/courage, planning/cleanliness, obedience, and work/industry) transcend culture, economic condition, and personal belief system. When these skills are mastered, success is sure in whatever activity you choose. But, while peace of mind is a form of success, success does not necessarily equate with peace of mind. Integrity, or personal honesty, is the deciding factor. Humility, the candid assessment of personal strengths and weaknesses, fosters integrity, and integrity is fostered through delayed gratification.â€

As a solopreneur, I know I have those bouts of flagging faith in what all those "rah rah" success coaches are talking about. Some days you're "on" and others, well...it's like your "mo-jo" has left the building.all of a sudden.Readers can find their way to getting revitalized again throughout Darnell's helpful guide to getting that mojo back again; within the different chapters some of the most important highlights include:How to approach money management, so you learn to strike a balance between saving for a rainy day, and becoming another spendthrift.How to counteract that doubt that creeps into your mind and keeps you from living your best potential. Inertia can be a powerful thing and it subconsciously creates "stalling tactics" e.g., procrastination, fear, staying in the comfort zone.I especially liked the story about the Olympic athlete's rise above the scary ordeal of getting burned/severely injured by a stove fire and believing he could walk again, and then some!Darnell's discussion on Internet marketing had a thing or two to tell me, I don't consider myself a "pro" but I see areas for improvement I could look at for myself in this department.The chapter regarding stocks/real estate did not concern me, but I am sure there is an audience that will benefit from reading this part.Disclamer: I received this book for free/discount in exchange for my verified and honest opinion.

I wasn't sure I'd like this, because I don't usually like the crime drama/psychological thriller type stuff (I need to escape real life, not read about things I see every day). I only read it because I liked this author's other books, and decided to give it a go. But I really did like it! It wasn't until towards the end that I was starting to pick up on where the main cops thoughts were leading. The entire book was very interesting, and she did such a good job with the medical terminology and there was a lot of attention to details. I loved the gory detail of the crime scenes, but to be fair, it's pretty much impossible to trigger me. Others might be triggered. And Bradleys panic attacks were realistic and well placed.I definitely would not call this romantic... like at all. But I knew going in that really wasn't going to be the focus. I enjoyed the awkward relationship these two characters had, but there was maybe 2 times that the author let us see a little romantic tension. And then at the end, I just couldn't feel the potential for these two. Don't get me wrong, I loved that Max was a bit of a douche, and his cold hardened nature made me laugh. The author having Max explain how he is able to get through what he does was just so realistic, because as someone that's worked in trauma for a long time, sometimes his thoughts and actions about things were like reading what my day/reaction is like. People don't understand the need to compartmentalize. Max is gonna have his work cut out because Bradley deserves someone that will care for him, and Max has a long way to go. But, I will definitely be reading the rest, because I can't wait to read more from these characters.

I really enjoyed this book. The suspense throughout the story kept me completely engaged. We do get enough background about the MCs to get to know them enough for this story, but I look forward to delving deeper into their lives in future installments.This thriller involves a sadistic serial killer that evades the efforts of homicide Detective Max Donahue. Unfortunately for Bradley, an accountant who thrives on routine and structure, he's having a bad morning, and happens to make eye contact with the killer on his way to work. This puts him in the murderer's line of sight.After the killer takes his revenge, Bradley is the only surviving witness to what becomes a series of murders. But something is barring Max's progress in the case. Bradley is taken to the only safe place available, or so he and Max believe.Once Max finally makes a breakthrough in the case, he comes up with a plan. Bradley is very upset about being forced to go along with this plan, but chooses to trust Max to keep his promise. However, things don't always go according to plan, and Bradley loses faith in Max.There is a very slow burn romance growing later in the story. There is no heat in this story, but I'm sure we're going to see things move forward in upcoming sequels. I cannot say how quickly the romance will progress, but the constant sniping between the two MCs could mean that it will take a while. Overall, I did enjoy the story. This is not your typical romance though there is definitely attraction and sexual tension between the main characters. I have always loved a good mystery and this was an unforgettable reading experience. Brittany Cournoyer did an excellent job describing the crime scenes to the point I felt like I was in the room with the detective and the victim. This was carefully researched and tastefully though graphically described. I definitely didnâ€™t know the killer and that was kept until the big reveal. At the end we see the first tangible evidence that Max and Bradley may become a couple. This alone is enough for me to want the next book in the series. However, what appealed to me most was the romantic suspense that focused more on the mystery than the developing relationship. A word of caution, this book does go into graphic detail with the violence as I believe has been put in a trigger warning and I know has been mentioned by the author. If you arenâ€™t of fan of blood and gore on the page this will be a difficult book for you to enjoy. Thank you Brittany Cournoyer for taking a chance on writing this book! I love this trope!

Every once in a while I need to feed the need with a good mystery/suspense/thriller, and this one hits the spot head-on. Max. Oh my goodness! I immediately had a hard time liking him, but man oh man, I love complicated characters like him, so very much! Bradley, I so very much wanted to wrap him up and protect him. He's so very sweet. The story line was nicely done, the gruesome details were perfect for me, and may not be for everyone. I absolutely had no idea who was behind the murders until the big reveal, which totally did it for me. I usually can figure things out and this time I didn't. This is an ongoing story, which is perfect because I want more Max and Bradley so very much! This is a slow burn romance between Max and Bradley, so there isn't much romance going in, as this author has stated. I cannot wait to read what happens next!

Gritty, dark, suspenseful who-done-it drama that will captivate your attention. Well written crime/psychological story that surprised me with the bad guy's. Lots of twist and turns with the plot that will keep you engaged. The characters were well done, i really felt that i knew Max and Bradley. They are so not perfect characters and i really liked that aspect.This is not a romance and does not offer a HEA for these guys. It does offer a possible future and a little tension but that will be developed more in the next book. There is not a cliff-hanger, the story-line is wrapped up but the dynamics are just starting to build between Max and Bradley.Warning - This book has a lot of graphic details of the crime and the level of violence is high.I was gifted this book from the author and i freely give my review.
